Latin I is an introduction to the study of an inflected language. Latin I includes a study of the basic elements of grammar. The relationship between Latin and English grammar is strongly emphasized. Latin I focuses on the building of a useful Latin vocabulary and also strives to increase English language vocabulary with an examination of words derived from Latin. Short stories from history and mythology are presented to support the learning of grammar and vocabulary. This course is offered in alternate years.
