This quarter, Signora Hoerle and two of her Italian V students painted a mural in her classroom at BHS. The mural depicts Manarola, one the five colorful seaside villages on the Italian coastline of Liguria,or the Riviera Ligure. These five villages are known as the Cinque Terre (the Five Lands) and they are connected by a hiking trail (il Sentiero Azzurro). Julia and Marissa chose Manarola as the subject of their mural because they loved the contrast between the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea and the brightness of the houses. Both Marissa and Julia want to visit the Cinque Terre in the future.
